Eric Niiler, NPR Biography

Eric Niiler reports for NPR's national desk. His work can be heard on All Things Considered, Morning Edition, and other NPR newsmagazines. Before moving to his current post, Niiler was a reporter for NPR's Day to Day program, and also filed pieces for NPR's national and science desks.

Niiler comes to NPR from KPBS Radio in San Diego, Calif., where he covered immigration and border issues between the United States and Mexico. In April 2004, he was an embedded reporter with U.S. Marines in Iraq reporting for KPBS and NPR.

Before joining KPBS in 2001, Niiler worked as a freelance journalist in San Diego. He contributed his knowledge of Mexico and the environment to various publications including Scientific American, the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, and the Christian Science Monitor.
